Think composting’s just for folks with a backyard and chickens? Nope. Apartment composting is totally doable—and way easier than you think. You don’t need a big bin or a garden. All you need is a small container with a lid, some patience, and the right mix of food scraps and dry stuff (like shredded paper or cardboard).
The trick is balance. Too many fruit peels and coffee grounds, and it gets smelly real fast. Add dry stuff regularly and stir it up sometimes to keep things happy. You can buy a countertop compost bin, or even make your own with a bucket and a drill. Worm composting (aka vermicomposting) is also a thing, and no, it’s not as gross as it sounds. The worms do all the work, and they don’t smell if you treat ‘em right. Once it breaks down, your compost can feed houseplants, herbs, or be dropped at local gardens that accept it. Don’t toss all that food waste in the trash—it’s basically gold for your plants. Apartment composting might take a lil' time to get used to, but once you do, you’ll wonder why you didn’t start earlier.
